End Table

This mid-century modern piece can be called whatever you like - an end table, a side table, a nightstand, or an accent table. Whatever you call it, we think you’ll love it.

We start with a single piece of Baltic birch europly, and then cut slits deep enough to allow the wood to bend for us. Forty-four cuts later and we’re able to wrap the piece around on itself to form our most iconic product.

We fill the slits in the corners with a mixture of walnut sawdust and glue, (our own version of wood putty) and it gives it a beautiful striped effect that looks amazing adjacent to the Baltic birch europly stripes.

The tapered legs are made of two interlocking pieces of wood and perfectly compliment the top section.

An optional drawer is available in solid walnut with dovetailed joints, undermount slides, and a beautifully custom cutout handle. The drawered version takes this mid-century end table to a new level and makes it a perfect nightstand.

This item is available in multiple finishes - either a walnut or maple veneer.

(01) Veneered Baltic Birch

Our furniture is made using a beautiful high-end Baltic birch plywood from Columbia Forest Products®. Each of the 13 layers of the ply are solid wood, and a thick veneer in walnut or maple wraps each face in rich tones. The Baltic birch is a sustainable product and will be very stable as the seasons change, unlike some solid wood furniture.

While many woodworkers conceal the edges of the plywood, we have made it our signature look to highlight the striped layers. Not only does this give a nod to the designers of the mid-century era, it makes every piece by Hossle Woodworks a work of art, and a unique, one-of-a-kind, creation.

(02) Drawers and Hardware

In addition, our high-end drawers complement the simplicity of our furniture. The drawer boxes (what’s behind the drawer face) are made of solid walnut (or maple if you choose a maple veneer) with dovetailed joints, soft-close under-mount drawer slides (by Blum®) and custom cut-out handles.

(03) Finish

We finish our products with a mixture of pure tung oil, boiled linseed oil and wax. This means less harsh chemicals when we are doing the work, and a safer breathing experience for you. The end result is a durable, water-resistant matte finish that feels like a silky-smooth piece of wood.

Another benefit to the finish is that it allows for easy repair when scratches happen. Buff out the scratch with a piece of high-grit sandpaper and rub in some Howard Feed-N-Wax® and your piece is as good as new!

(01) How do I care for this product?

Details can be found on our FAQ page. That said, in general, treat the piece with kindness - use coasters, wipe up spills, and don’t put sharp or rough objects on the furniture. A damp cloth is all you need to clean it (definitely no harsh chemicals), and the piece can be refreshed with a bit of furniture wax when needed.

(02) Does this require assembly?

If you’re having this item shipped, the leg section will need to be attached to the upper section. It’s quick and easy to do with 4 hex bolts. If you’re picking this item up, or having it delivered within the Twin Cities Metro Area, the piece will be fully assembled.

(03) Can I customize this piece?

Please reach out to us before ordering. Slight customizations may be possible.

The “kerf” refers to the slit in the wood made by a saw blade. Our end tables are created by kerf cutting the plywood up to the final veneer, spaced out by 3/16”. Once the slits are made, then we are able to bend the plywood into its final shape, with the result being a seamless one-piece look. The kerfs are then filled with a mixture of walnut sawdust and glue.
